Adrian, MI — The Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) TECH Center celebrated the accomplishments of students from across Lenawee County during two Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Pinning Ceremonies held during the 2024–2025 school year.

Most recently, on April 15, 2025, 23 students were recognized during a special ceremony on the LISD TECH Center campus. The event marked a significant milestone for students completing the CNA program, which prepares them to enter the healthcare field with the skills and knowledge needed to provide compassionate patient care.

The April ceremony included traditional elements such as the lighting of candles, the recitation of the CNA pledge, and the presentation of pins—a symbol of dedication and service dating back to the mid-1800s. Students and their families heard remarks from LISD Superintendent Mark Haag, CNA Instructor Debbie Blaker, and special guest speaker Emily Brosamer, a registered nurse in the emergency department at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor and an LISD TECH Center CNA program alumna.

“It is an honor and a blessing to pin this group of nursing assistants,” said Debbie Blaker, CNA Program Instructor at the LISD TECH Center. “The knowledge and skill they have worked so hard for is evident in their kind hands and caring hearts.”

Earlier this year, on January 8, 2025, the LISD TECH Center held a similar pinning ceremony honoring 28 students from the Nursing Prep Program. That event featured guest speaker Emma Freshcorn, a registered nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and a proud graduate of the LISD TECH Center’s healthcare programs.

Both ceremonies concluded with the formal presentation of students as Certified Nurse Assistants, recognizing their hard work, commitment, and readiness to join the healthcare profession.

“I’m incredibly proud of our CNA and Nursing Prep students and all they’ve accomplished,” said Jenny Heath, LISD Executive Director of Career and Technical Education and Secondary Programs. “Earning their certification is a significant achievement, and it’s just the beginning of the important work they’ll do caring for others. The pinning ceremony is such a meaningful tradition—it gives us a chance to celebrate their dedication, compassion, and the hard work they’ve put into reaching this moment.”

The LISD TECH Center’s CNA and Nursing Prep programs continue to provide valuable career training for students interested in healthcare professions, often serving as the first step toward further nursing or medical education.
