Adrian, MI – At its regular meeting on April 7, 2025, the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution expressing strong support for the U.S. Department of Education and the vital role it plays in ensuring educational equity for all students.
The resolution emphasizes the importance of continued federal support for programs that serve students with disabilities, those from underserved communities, and students pursuing career and technical education. The Board voiced concern over proposed cuts that would significantly impact the district’s ability to provide comprehensive, inclusive services that meet the diverse needs of its learners.
"Federal programs are not just funding streams—they represent a promise that every student, no matter their background or ability, has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed," said LISD Superintendent Mark Haag.
The Board’s resolution highlights the essential nature of federal oversight and investment in public education and calls on policymakers to maintain and strengthen support for the U.S. Department of Education.
A copy of the resolution will be sent to federal lawmakers, as well as Michigan’s congressional delegation, the Governor, and other key stakeholders to advocate for continued investment in public education and student success.
